Gemini Joe -
After years of distancing herself from her alcoholic father, Janet received a letter that promised to lead her on a journey of understanding and forgiveness. Included was a poem that showed a different side of him—a side that was unfamiliar. Janet didn't know much about him or his family, and her curiosity began to grow. She decided to correspond with the man that she had shut out of her life.
Based on actual tapes, poems and letters, the story focuses on “Gemini Joe,” From his childhood years, through Joe’s own words and writings. He reveals his family’s darkest secrets, and the contents of his soul. Janet learns about the physical and emotional abuse her father suffered in his childhood, but would it be enough for his daughter to forgive him?
That Janet Sierzant can write with unflinching honesty about her subject while still conveying tenderness is an achievement.
